Update: Late Spring Tour & More!

April 29, 2018

I'm spending the night in South Carolina, en route to Roberdel Baptist Church in Rockingham, North Carolina where, tomorrow evening, Sam and I will share the first of 17 presentations. We'll be on the road about three-and-a-half weeks this time.  Despite being away from home almost non-stop since late February, I'm excited about this tour and grateful for every opportunity. I feel like I say that a lot, but I mean it. I'm praying that God will make every stop meaningful and substantive.

For more details about the upcoming schedule, feel free to check the Events Page on Facebook.

At the end of May, I will be exhibiting (The Songs & Stories of Brent Vernon) at the FPEA convention in Kissimmee, Florida. This is my first time to exhibit at an event like this, so if you happen to be attending, please come by Booth #1624 and say hello. We're hoping Audrey Amaka will be able to show up as well!

Before I go, let me share one more thing. I've been reading a book by the late Chuck Colson.  It's a book of collected essays called Who Speaks for God?  The book was definitely written in a different day (the 1980's), but it's remarkable how much of it feels quite relevant. Mr. Colson spends a great deal of time urging the Christ follower and church body to stay rooted in the Word of God, not erring to the left or right... living and exemplifying both godly character and compassion.

There are so many powerful nuggets in this book, but I'll leave you with one. In an essay called "The Problem of Power," Colson writes about the importance of personal accountability:

"Though I know intellectually how vulnerable I am to pride and power, I am the last one to know when I succumb to their seduction. That's why spiritual Lone Rangers are so dangerous -- and why we must depend on trusted brothers and sisters who love us enough to tell us the truth."

I'm so grateful to have one or two friends like that!

Good night, all.
